SCREENS | TECHNICAL WHAT IS THE NSSA ACCREDITATION SCHEME? T he NSSA Accreditation Scheme commenced in 2017 and consists of an annual audit to verify compliance with Australian Standard (AS) 5039 Security Screen Doors and Security Window Grilles. The audits are conducted by third-party independent auditors and are overseen by the Australian Window Association’s NATA accredited inspection agency. A regular NATA audit under the NSSA Accreditation Program is a condition of NSSA membership. WHAT DOES AN AUDIT INVOLVE? NSSA audits take place at the fabricators place of business, usually in the factory. The audit generally takes around one and a half hours and the auditor will select one or more window and/ or door security screens upon arrival and inspect them for compliance with the relevant standards. This will involve a comparison of the sample product with the relevant test reports and fabrication manual specific for that product. The auditor will also inspect and evaluate: a) Copies of relevant test reports for the products involved. 01 b) Technical manual and/or access to software. c) Evidence that any surface finish complies with the relevant standard. d) Proof that the hardware complies to what has been tested, and if substituted, proof that it still complies. On completion of the audit, an Audit Check List and a Compliance Audit Report will be provided and a Compliance Certificate will be mailed to you for display in your showroom. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
