Winchester Cathedral’s Christmas Market transforms the Inner Close
from 21 November to 22 December. It’s recognised as one of the best
Christmas markets in Europe for its unique location, high-quality
exhibitors and bustling atmosphere. Enjoy ice skating in the covered
rink from 21 November to 5 January.

MULLED WINE
WITH THE MAYOR JOIN THE
LANTERN PARADE
Enjoy a tour of Abbey House in Abbey
Gardens, the official residence of the mayor
of Winchester, on 11 December and find
out more about the secrets of the historic
city-centre landmark. The tour concludes
with mulled wine with the mayor herself –
Councillor Eleanor Bell. Tickets cost £9.50,
with proceeds going to local charities. Join the family parade starting from the cathedral and
processing around the Outer Close after dark on 28 November.
This year’s event includes community carols led by Churches
Together Winchester and concludes with a firework display.
Take part or come just to enjoy the colourful spectacle and
admire the wonderful display of lanterns – old and new.
Lantern-making workshops are held at Bella Crafts,
Kings Walk, throughout December.

LIGHTS SWITCH-ON
See Winchester’s city streets lit up with
thousands of sparkling lights at the big
switch-on on 14 November. Enjoy an
evening of live entertainment on the big
stage on The Broadway from 4pm and see
locally-nominated community champions,
voted for by the public, hit the switch at 6pm.
The event is organised by Winchester BID,
supported by city-centre businesses.
