Character Review Meeting { 6 / 10 / 22 }
A Character Review Meeting is conducted by a Character Review Committee and is a disciplinary measure by which a student ’ s continued enrollment at Williamson is brought into serious consideration .
The Character Review Committee is comprised of the Vice President of Student Affairs ( in rare cases , the Vice President of Academic Affairs / CAO can also chair a Character Review Committee ), the student ’ s Shop Director , Assistant Director , and a faculty member who currently instructs the student . Additionally , the Director of Food Services , the Director of Transportation , and the Director of Residence Life are invited to attend as voting members of the committee . At least three days prior to the meeting , the Vice President of Student Affairs requests from faculty / staff comments on the student ’ s behavior . At the meeting , the committee will review all submitted comments ; the student ’ s record for discipline , academics , attendance , etc . and will interview the student directly . The committee will recommend to the Provost either to retain or dismiss the student . If the student is retained , the Provost , with input from the committee , will establish the conditions ( e . g ., point threshold , behavioral issues , etc .) that would prompt a Progress Review Meeting .
There are three grounds for students to undergo a Character Review Meeting :
• A student reaches their Character Review disciplinary point threshold ,
• A student receives two 32-point offenses while at Williamson ,
• Or , at the direction of the Provost . o Based on the severity of a disciplinary offense and / or the student ’ s continued behavioral issues , a Trade Director can submit a request to the Provost that a student undergo a Character Review Meeting regardless of the student ’ s disciplinary point total .
Special Situations If a student meets or exceeds the Character Review point limit within the week prior to the start of spring finals , the Provost will directly review the student ’ s conduct .
A Character Review Meeting may be bypassed if the student shows a complete disregard for college rules and policies after accumulating enough points to warrant a Character Review .
Progress Review Meeting { 7 / 13 / 18 }
A Progress Review Meeting occurs if a student has already had a Character Review Meeting and has been retained but has failed to make improvements or has met the conditions established in his Character Review Meeting . This meeting involves at least the Vice President of Student Affairs , the Trade Director , and the original faculty member of his Character Review Committee . The Directors of Food Services , Residence Life , and the Supervisor of Grounds & Transportation will also be invited . This committee will collectively assess the student ’ s progress since his Character Review . The chair will request comments from faculty / staff on the student ’ s behavior ; however , the committee will not re-interview the student . The committee will again recommend to the Provost either to retain or dismiss the student . If the student is retained , the Provost , with input from the committee , will again establish the conditions ( e . g ., point threshold , behavioral issues , etc .) that would prompt a subsequent Progress Review .
Student Dismissal For Conduct { 7 / 13 / 18 }
Following a Character Review or Progress Review Meeting , if the Provost agrees with the committee ’ s recommendation to dismiss a student , he ( or his proxy ) will meet with the student directly and inform him of the decision .
Appeal of Dismissal A student may appeal the Provost ’ s dismissal decision through a letter of appeal to the President . The student must file the letter within 72 hours of the dismissal decision and be based on one of three grounds : that the Provost ’ s decision was based on inaccurate or unfounded information , clearly
