Senioritis

Don't let it catch

you unaware.

By Aven Alexander

Senior year is what all high school students look forward to as they complete their underclassman years. However, being a senior in high school is as equally fun as it is stressful. Not only are seniors worried about college, SAT scores, and scholarships, they also have a schedule full of challenging classes extracurricular activities, spending time with friends, and trying to soak up the last few months with family before moving to a college or technical school in the fall.

It is safe to say that seniors are very busy, yet motivation is at an all-time low. After spending twelve years in grade school, there is not much effort left to spend on the last leg of the race. It seems as any energy seniors have left is put towards their transition to higher education after graduation in May. Savannah Gregory, a senior at PHS, says, “There is so much to get done, and it’s hard to keep up. I’m just ready to be at Baylor University in the fall.” The only thing on the minds of seniors is their countdown to graduation and their excitement for the new opportunities that await them.

Most seniors would say that the only cure for Senioritis is graduation itself. As a senior at PHS, I would have to agree. Although seniors are limping towards graduation, I can ensure that we will find the motivation to complete all of our important tasks because deadlines keep us on track. Just cut your seniors some extra slack as they tackle their checklists, and cheer them on as they walk across the stage on May 21st!
