feel more energized

O

n September 7, we completed another 16 sessions and graduated the latest class of “Stay Strong. Stay Healthy.” participants in Independence. Ten smiling graduates were presented certificates of completion and several expressed plans to join the group of graduates from previous classes who have continued to meet and do these strength building exercises together.

Once again, when post fitness assessments were completed, participants were delighted with the improvements they saw documented on their charts. Following are a few of the comments they wrote on their post surveys:

• “Yes, I feel physically stronger. I’m able to go up and down stairs the regular way! Get in and out of my car easier. With the exercises I’m sure I will get my full strength back faster than what I was told.” (by the doctor)

• “The director did an amazing job of keeping participants motivated. I will continue to work on deficient areas. I enjoyed each session and will participate when other such programs are available.”

• “As a fitness instructor, I was unsure how only focusing on eight exercises could be beneficial. I have to say that I can see the difference this has made in my muscle tone, ability to stretch further than I had before and continue to build strength and balance. Awesome class-Thank you!”

When asked to list two ways the program improved their life comments included:

• Renew Friendship/Improved Balanced

• Better focus on my overall health/Improved Strength

• I have more energy/Feel better about myself

• Flexibility/Muscle Strength
