The Problem?

Sexuality Sells

While it is no secret that women everywhere constantly fall prey to sexual objectification, it is startling to realize pop icons targeted to the adolescent female demographic operates under this idea. Female artists reach fame by caving to presenting their bodies, rather than art, as the means of consumption. Women are five times more likely to pose in revealing clothing than men, and the majority of adolescents are exposed to MTV. But are women in music more than just sex icons?

We need to counter-attack this disgrace by promoting those who do not adhere to this standard. Finding those artists, sadly, is harder than expected.
