Social media has an effect that negatively influences teens to have a warped perspective of a perfect teen. In "Body image and adolescents" by Jillian Croll she states 50-88% of adolescent girls feel negatively about their body shape or size due to media. Its already hard enough to understand how our body's change from a child, preteen to a teenager. The media continues to contribute to our problem. The sad fact is, there is no such thing as a perfect teen. However, the media with their minipulative techniques make consumers believe that perfection is achievable. Billboards, posters, magazines and music videos depict the provacative teen image of perfection. The truth is far from being realistic and can cause teens to take drastic measures to reach the model appearance they desire.
