1. INTRODUCTION

Companies on average spent $1,075 per learner in 2017 compared to $814 in 2016, according to an industry report published by Training magazine. Larger companies continued to run on economies of scale and spent less on training than small and midsized companies.

Although businesses spent more on training while offering less hours in 2016, they did provide more of the latter (approximately 47.6 training hours-- 4 more than the previous year) in 2017. The same report also showed a promising increase in technology use as learning management systems, e-learning tools, and application simulation software were utilized more frequently.

Money isn’t everything, and it’s certainly not the only thing motivating today’s workforce.
