SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2018

Acclaimed chefs from Alberta, Saskatchewan
and Manitoba are collaborating this fall to
host the Prairie Grid Dinner Series (page 34),
a number of pop-up dinners where all
ingredients used will be locally sourced
from the prairies. Presented by Eat North,
Alberta beef, Saskatchewan sour cherries,
cold-pressed canola and Manitoba goldeye
will bolster the dining menus, alongside
locally made spirits, ciders and tonics. Event
organizer and co-founder of Eat North
Dan Clapson notes that the dinners aim to
showcase why people should be proud to
live in Canada’s prairie provinces. “We are
bringing unique aspects of the prairies as
a whole to each different city — you could
dine in Calgary and get a taste of something
amazing from a Winnipeg chef.” In addition
to an artisan food menu, each dining event
will feature an array of custom prairie-made
wares, fashion items and work from visual
artists.
