ON CULTURE: Taming the Toga WORDS BY Eric Yao      When you think of Romans, Togas are probably the first thing that come to mind. Those simple yet elegant garments have flooded popular culture and entertainment through the years as the authentic portrayal of classical civilization. In reality, few Romans were permitted to wear Togas. They were seen as a sign of nobility and citizenship. A toga was a prized possesion that had to be meticulously cared for and donned. For the upcoming state convention, members of Wheeler Latin came together to prepare       THE TORCH | 6 their own, more colorful, Roman garments. These tie- dye masterpieces will be featured on the Roman Procession. Watch out for Wheeler as we come by in our brightly colored creations!
