Course Name: Visual Art Comprehensive II Type of Course: Elective Course Available to: 9th- 12th grade
Prerequisites: VA Comprehensive I( 70 %+)
Description: This course enhances level-one skills in art history, art criticism, aesthetic judgment, and studio production. This course emphasizes and reinforces knowledge and application of the design elements and their relationship to the principles of design, explores different two- and three-dimensional art media and processes, and investigates master artworks to increase awareness and to examine the role of art and the artist in past and contemporary societies.
Course Name: Applied Design I Type of Course: Elective Course Available to: 9th- 12th grade
Prerequisites: VA Comprehensive I( 70 %+)
Description: This course emphasizes design elements and principles in the production of applied design art products and / or designs such as architecture, advertisements, graphic designs, environmental designs, and product designs, stresses proper use of equipment and vocabulary and technical terms., and investigates the computer and its influence on and role in creating contemporary designs. This course includes a cultural and historical study of master design works of different periods and styles.
Course Name: Applied Design II Type of Course: Elective Course Available to: 10th- 12th grade
Prerequisites: Applied Design I( 70 %+)
Description: This course enhances level-one skills and provides opportunities to apply design elements and principles in the production of applied design art products and / or designs such as architecture, advertisements, graphic designs, environmental designs, and product designs. This course uses boardand computer-generated designs for art products and covers how to create designs and plan design presentations.
Course Name: Ceramics I Type of Course: Elective Course Available to: 9th- 12th grade
Prerequisites: VA Comprehensive I( 70 %+)
Description: This course introduces the characteristics of clay and design in clay using various techniques of construction and decoration, and emphasizes hand building and introduces other forming techniques, surface decoration, and glaze applications. This course covers styles of ceramic works from Western and non-Western cultures.
