Course Name : Emergency Medical Responder Type of Course : Elective Course
Available to : 11th and 12th grade
Prerequisites : Essentials of Healthcare ( 85 %+) OR H . Essentials of Healthcare ( 80 %+)
Description : This is the third course in the Therapeutic Services – Emergency Medical Responder pathway . This course prepares the student to provide initial stabilizing care to the sick or injured prior to the arrival of Emergency Medical Services Professionals ( EMS ) and to assist EMS personnel in transporting patients for definitive care at an appropriate hospital / facility . Major areas of instruction include Introductory Medical Terminology and Anatomy & Physiology ; Responder Safety ; Incident Command ; Blood-borne Pathogen Training ; Basic Physical Assessment ; and Treatment of Trauma and Medical Emergencies ; Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and the use of Automatic External Defibrillators ( AEDs ). The course is a blend of lecture , hands on lab / learning , and practical scenario-based learning / testing . The course will include Healthcare Provider CPR / AED Certification from a Nationally Recognized Body ( American Heart Association or Red Cross , etc .).

Prerequisites : Teacher approval only
Description : This is the third course in the Therapeutic Services – Allied Health and Medicine pathway . This course is designed to offer upperclassmen students the opportunity to become effective and efficient multiskilled healthcare providers as they develop a working knowledge of various allied health opportunities . Students focusing on a career path in the healthcare field may apply classroom / lab knowledge and skills in the clinical setting as they participate in direct or simulated client care . The curriculum allows instructors to provide options for classroom / student growth opportunities in area ( s ) of interest to the student such as being a teaching assistant . Students who successfully complete this should be prepared to take an End of Pathway Assessment ( EOPA ) to be able to earn an industry-recognized credential .
Course Name : Dual Enrollment ( DE ) ALHS 1090 : Medical Terminology Type of Course : Elective Course
Available to : 11th and 12th grade
Prerequisites : Acceptance into Chattahoochee Technical College Dual Enrollment program
Description : This is the co-third course in the Therapeutic Services – Patient Care pathway . This course must be taken if the DE Nurse Assistant Accelerated course was taken by Spring of Senior year . This course can be taken a semester before , concurrently with , or a semester after the DE Nurse Assistant Accelerated course . This is a Dual Enrollment class through Chattahoochee Technical College that is taught fully online through Chattahoochee Technical College .
