Wheeler High School currently offers three specialized programs that students can apply to .
The Center for Advanced Studies in Science , Math , and Technology ( Wheeler High School ’ s Magnet program )
This is a specialized four-year program established in 1999 that offers any rising 9th grade Cobb County high school student an opportunity to be accepted into a unique and accelerated curriculum in science , math , and technology . This program offers advanced courses including Organic Chemistry , DNA / Genetics , Aerospace Engineering , Georgia Tech-partnered Math courses , Georgia and Chattahoochee Tech-partnered Computer Science courses , and college-level Internship and Research opportunities . This program ’ s culture of support , intellectual curiosity , and exploration allows Wheeler Magnet students to thrive during their four years in high school , setting them up for future success with strong background knowledge , self-confidence , and marketable skills . These qualities make Wheeler Magnet students competitive candidates for future internships , scholarships , and admission to elite universities .

Wheeler STEAM Academy
This is a specialized four-year program established in 2018 that offers any rising 9th grade Wheeler high school student an opportunity to be accepted into a unique and accelerated curriculum in the STEAM ( Science , Technology , Engineering , Fine Arts , and Math ) fields . The overall curriculum for the program will allow students to explore the interconnections between the five broad areas of STEAM by choosing one of the fields as their dedicated “ Major ” during their four years in high school . Students will also be exposed to college-level research methods through a two-year AP Capstone during 11th and 12th grade . By taking specific and rigorous STEAM courses throughout 9th - 12th grade , Wheeler STEAM Academy students will be able to begin narrowing down their areas of interest for college and career before leaving high school .
