Course Name : Honors French IV Type of Course : Elective Course Available to : 11th and 12th grade
Prerequisites : H . French III ( 85 %+)
Description : This course is designed to increase oral and written fluency and to provide intensive study of the culture , geography , and history of the French-speaking world . French is only spoken in this course , and many activities include watching shorts films from various French speaking countries , reading authentic articles and poems , have debates and philosophical discussions , reading novels , listening to music , playing French games , and watching full length French films ! Students earn an additional 1.0 quality point towards their GPA for this course .
Course Name : AP French Language and Culture Type of Course : Elective Course Available to : 12th grade
Prerequisites : H . French IV ( 85 %+)
Description : This course is an intermediate level college course in French . Students cultivate their understanding of French language and culture by applying interpersonal , interpretive , and presentational modes of communication in real-life situations as they explore concepts related to family and community , personal and public identity , beauty and aesthetics , science and technology , contemporary life , and global challenges . This course will involve extensive readings , independent study , and frequent written / document analysis to prepare students for the AP French Language and Culture Exam . By earning a 4 or 5 on the AP exam , students will earn a Biliteracy seal on their diploma . Students earn an additional 1.0 quality point towards their GPA for this course .

Course Name : Latin I Type of Course : Elective Course Available to : 9th - 12th grade
Prerequisites : None
Description : This is an introductory course is designed for students with little to no prior experience in Latin , offering a comprehensive foundation in both language and culture . Latin is not just a language ; it ' s a key to unlocking the rich history , literature , and influence of the Roman civilization . By the end of Latin I , students will have a strong foundation in the Latin language , enabling them to read and understand simple Latin texts and appreciate the cultural and historical context in which Latin was used . This course serves as a stepping-stone for further exploration of the classical world and sets the stage for continued studies in Latin II and beyond .
