Course Name : French I Type of Course : Elective Course Available to : 9th - 12th grade
Prerequisites : None
Description : This course is an introduction to the language and culture of France and other Frenchspeaking countries . The course will enable students to attain a beginner ’ s level of proficiency in listening , speaking , reading , and writing , with an emphasis on oral proficiency .
Course Name : French II Type of Course : Elective Course Available to : 9th - 12th grade
Prerequisites : French I ( 70 % - 89 %)
Description : This course is designed to further develop listening , speaking , reading , and writing with an emphasis on oral proficiency . The student will acquire a basic command of key vocabulary / grammatical structures necessary for limited personal communication and an appreciation of diversity in the Frenchspeaking world .
Course Name : Honors French II Type of Course : Elective Course Available to : 9th - 12th grade
Prerequisites : French I ( 90 %+)
Description : An accelerated course designed to give a more in-depth development of listening , speaking , reading , and writing in French with an emphasis on oral proficiency designed to prepare students for other Honors and AP French courses . Students earn an additional 0.5 quality point towards their GPA for this course .
Course Name : Honors French III Type of Course : Elective Course Available to : 10th - 12th grade
Prerequisites : H . French II ( 85 %+)
Description : This course is designed to further develop a student ’ s communication skills and cultural appreciation of the French-speaking world . The student will be able to participate in a variety of oral and written activities through reading and writing stories and essays , watching videos in French , and speak French most of the time . Students earn an additional 0.5 quality point towards their GPA for this course .
