A MILESTONE TO REMEMBER We spoke to the SLAKE graduates about what the programme has taught them, and the advice they would give to the new cohorts. ROSLAILY BINTI ABD RAZAK Joined STAR in 2016 as Accounts Assistant Current: Executive, Account Receivable (PJ) Q: How do you feel as a SLAKE graduate? It’s a great feeling. I feel happy and relief at the same time as I finally managed to complete and graduate from the programme. I’m definitely very proud of myself to be the first batch of SLAKE graduates. I felt proud and happy because throughout the programme, I was able to juggle a lot of different things at once, for example work, projects, assignments, journal reports and spending time with my family. That feeling when you realise how far you have come and how much you could actually accomplish is indescribable. I just couldn’t explain my happiness. Q: Which part of the programme did you enjoy the most and why? The part that I enjoyed the most in this programme is the presentation session. I remember practising and preparing for the presentation every day before meeting all the HODs. Q: Tell us something you are proud of. I felt proud to be given a presentation in front of the HODs. The presentation cured me of my public speaking woes. Q: Any tips to share with the upcoming SLAKE participants? For the upcoming SLAKE participants, I hope they will always be confident and stay positive. Don’t give up. Face the CHALLENGE, look for a way, not a way out. Q: Food you can't live without. Spicy food! I eat all kinds of food and one of it must be spicy. My favourite is a Malay dish called masak lemak cili api. Q: What's your life motto? For the upcoming SLAKE participants, I strongly advise that you send your journal report and assignments on time. Learn to be a professional presenter. With this in mind, I hope it will inspire you in your preparation towards the final presentation. Q: Your life motto? Do my best so that I can’t blame myself for anything. Q: Favourite song?
