Lookout is a good reason to re-visit the Skyrail experience – or try it for the first time. The western rivers are charged with a good strong flow and refreshing pools can be found along Emu Creek south of Petford and the Tate River south of Almaden, along the Chillagoe Road. Even Chillagoe Creek has finally had a bit of a flushing out and allows for a refreshing dip after exploring the caves and karsts. Down the south end of the Tableland the Millstream is flowing well and all the falls it tumbles over on its way to the Herbert River currently make for a foaming spectacle. Mackenzie and Little and Big Millstream Falls should be on your waterfall “hit list” over the next few weeks. The Tablelands waterfalls and streams have a reputation for being a bit chilly so while it’s warm get out your creek- walking shoes, swimming gear and inflatables and go on an exploration of the wet and wild.
