Bursaries may be suspended or terminated if the Bursar fails to make adequate academic progress, fails to participate on a regular basis, fails to respond to administrative or disciplinary actions issued by the RAF, becomes medically unfit for service or fails the RAFFT. A suspension for other than medical reasons will normally result in the Bursar repaying that which has been paid.
Applicants must ensure that they have alternative arrangements in place to pay their tuition fees at all times, in case the application is unsuccessful or if a Bursar needs to leave the scheme for whatever reason.
TO APPLY Apply on-line via the RAF Careers Website when you are at university or about to start university from the 1st of September. For sponsorship to start in the next academic year, the very latest date for applications is 31 March, but you are strongly encouraged to apply by the previous Christmas to give you the best chance of completing selection in time. We may ask for an academic reference and you’ ll be interviewed on-line, before attending a medical with a contracted GP in your area and a Fitness Test at a local gym. Selection involves a full day of exercises and interview at the Officers and Aircrew Selection Centre at the RAF College Cranwell.
YOUR UNIVERSITY AIR SQUADRON Can offer you excitement, adventure, a great social life and free flying lessons. There’ s a training session one evening a week and other RAF-led activities so you can familiarise yourself with life in the RAF. You won’ t be expected to wear uniform in your day-to-day life as an undergraduate, but you will need to be able to manage your time to fit in both your academic studies and activities with the squadron. If selected to be a bursar and not already a member of a University Air Squadron( UAS) you will automatically join your nearest UAS Sqn.
