this industry but many roles in the creative sector involve working with the latest
technologies which are helping to drive the sector forwards. Job areas include film
and TV, social media, advertising, music, crafts, computer games and animation.
The sector employs around 11,690 people locally across 4,400 businesses.

Skills & qualities
• The Cultural Quarter in the St. Georges area of
Leicester is a thriving area for creative industries,
and is home to LCB Depot, Curve, Makers Yard and
Phoenix Square.
• Creative centres in the county include the Ferrers
at Staunton Harold and the Atkins Building in
Hinckley.
• The top three subsectors for jobs locally are in
computer consultancy activities, specialist design
and architecture.
• Creative jobs are expected to grow rapidly over
the next few years, with most opportunities being
based in very small firms.
• Competition for jobs is fierce – many people (nearly
