Hair care, according to the Native Americans

One of the most significant characteristics of the aboriginal people is their long, dark hair. While it would be nice to think that their hair is shiny, strong and healthy without any further special care, the opposite is true. Native Americans had many recipes that were created and used specifically for the sake of their hair, however, these mixtures contained only natural ingredients. In order to have a greater insight to the topic, there are a few examples of hair care recipes that are based on Native American traditions, and that are also used in Europe and the USA by those who prefer a natural and healthy lifestyle.

Shampoo

The permanent basis of the Native American shampoo recipes is soapweed and water. They mix about 4 spoons of soapweed and one cup of water together and then they add a special dried herb that emphasizes the nature of the shampoo and gives a pleasant scent to the hair. For example, they use rosemary to give shine to the hair and sage to make the hair darker. They mix the ingredients together and add some boiling water and then cover the potion and let it stand for a few days.
