What makes a good football team? Dec. 2013 | Page 51

Liverpool F.C.

Liverpool F.C. are not included in this list because they have lacked the trophies needed, in the past ten years, to be a good club. The reason behind my decision to exclude Liverpool is because they rarely make Champions League qualification. More competing for the 4th or 5th place, big teams no longer consider them as the threat for the title. Whilst they may be competing right now, being second in the table, I have doubts that this consistency is going to last. They also have no attributes to their favour. Their owner, a company known as Fenway Sports Group, have not offered the money needed to be a massive club. Spending more because they have to keep the fans on their side, they have not been dedicated owners. On top of this, Liverpool have not been smart with their transfers. With a few exceptions, Liverpool have failed to create big stars in recent years. With players like Henderson being disappointments, Liverpool have not got a extremely strong side. Even though they have numerous records, including the most trophies in England, they have not been consistent since the creation of the Barclays Premier League. Even with all their faults though, they have some of the most dedicated fans in the world. Even as Liverpool dropped from the top 3 English sides, most Liverpool fans remained loyal. Constantly buying Steven Gerrard shirts, they have driven Liverpool to where they are now. Without them, I would see Liverpool drop further down the league. In conclusion, Liverpool cannot prosper in the current Premier League without the needed financial attributes. If they could achieve better financial poweress, they could achieve many feats.
