What makes a good football team? Dec. 2013 | Page 25

Old Trafford, dubbed as the 'Theatre of Dreams', is the second largest stadium in the UK, after Wembley Stadium. Holding a total number of 75,000 people, it has been the home to United fans for over 100 years. When Manchester United was growing, they moved from their old stadium, Bank Street Stadium, to Old Trafford. Despite costing £90,000 pounds to orginally build in 1909, construction fees to expand the revenue has tallied up. However, despite construction fees, Manchester United have made up the money made for it. Earning a total of £1.3 million pounds each home game (without player wages), they charge only £39 to £53 pounds for each game. With the prices set as low, they are nearly always sold out of seats. This generates regular money to pay off the debt.

Manchester United excel with their fanbase and merchandise. Possible their biggest reason for domestic and intercontinential success, they prove that this attribute contributes to being a 'good' team. A driving force behind Manchester United success, the financial aspect of Manchester United is mainly run by the funds gained from the merchandise. It is obvious that Manchester United rank as the biggest club at the moment, with the largest fanbase and the biggest sales. This success with the fans guarentees success. Even without having much success in the next future years, Manchester United will remain a top club. Since they have such a wide fanbase, it is highly doubtful that Manchester United will fail in future years.
