Kyokushib Karate
Many of our girls became Western Province( WP) representatives to their delight and that of their coaching staff across the codes. Congratulations to our top sport achievers who have trained by the motto‘ no pain, no gain’. Determination and good work ethic have brought them rewards.
SQUASH
Nawaar Parker and Zahraa Parker were selected to represent the WP U11 squash team at a national squash festival in George after they successfully competed in the WP U11 tournament at Herschel. Nawaar came first in her group and second in the overall tournament. Zahraa came fourth in her group and seventh in the overall tournament.
HOCKEY
Skye Murray and Yusrah Khan were selected for the WP U13A hockey team which came fourth at the national tournament. They only lost one match.
GYMNASTICS
Paige Erasmus received full WP colours for tumbling and Bethany Toohey was awarded Western Cape colours and will compete in the Gym Games later in the year. She won a gold medal for level 4 at the Gym Championships.
KARATE
Ameera Parker and Hannah Bleekers were selected for the WP Karate Team. The South African National Kyokushin Karate Tournament was held in July 2016 at the Wynberg Military Base Cape Town.
NETBALL
Courtney Joshua was selected for the U13A netball team which won silver medals at the national tournament.
INDOOR HOCKEY
Shannon Carr and Jesse Gradwell were both selected for Pro Series Indoor Hockey U12 and U11 teams respectively.
WATER-POLO
Courtney Joshua and Jordan Laguma were selected for the WP U13A water-polo team and Skye Murray and Almaas Bailey for the WPU13B water-polo team. Both these teams will compete in Durban in December at the South African Inter-provincial Tournament.
