Wool for
Wonders
Wynberg Winter Wish
Wynberg girls are always looking for various ways to
best benefit our community. To do this, we carried on
the tradition of knitting vibrant woolen squares. These
squares were sewn together into snuggly blankets for
babies and toddlers. Many girls and their families went
the extra mile by knitting woolen beanies and adorable
little jerseys or booties. As house captains, we felt that it
is important to encourage girls that it’s cool to care. Every
week we fostered school spirit by having knitting circles.
Here girls could learn how to knit, bond and share some
laughs. We are so proud of our younger ladies for their
persevering attitude, we know it was not easy but your
nimble fingers and full hearts did us proud.
Last year, Constantia won the Wool for Wonders
knitting challenge, and this year saw Silverlea accept
the challenge and successfully brought in 611 squares!
Tikara Conradie in Grade 7 got her grandmother
and friends to knit the most squares this year. They
completed 1 430! You are a true Wynberg lady with
perseverance and grit. You have shown us that a day
without knitting is a day without sunshine.
We would like send our sincere thanks to all the family
members for availing their time and doing a superb job
knitting our squares into stunning blankets. You are
Wynberg Royals!
