Due to the severe water crisis that Cape Town has been
experiencing, the neighbouring schools made a collective
decision to cancel all swimming galas to show support
and an effort to save water.
Fortunately for WGJS, we have a beautiful swimming
pool run on a borehole and were able to offer our girls the
opportunity to participate in swimming training.
This year we decided to shift the focus towards technique
and fun. This included working on the head and body
position within the water.
Towards the end of the first term, we were lucky enough
to receive an exclusive invitation from Sun Valley to attend
their swimming gala. We braved the traffic that day and
were able to show off our new techniques. All the age
groups swam exceptionally well and we could definitely
see that hard work does indeed pay off.
Whether it be swimming in summer or winter, you could
see the smiles on the girls’ faces. The girls have worked
incredibly hard this year. We are all extremely proud of their
development and progress and look forward to an exciting
season ahead.
