the sun started to set, we put on our warm clothes for another night hike. Scary stories were told around The Pond and some of the braver girls thought they could overcome their fear and volunteered to enter a nearby dungeon. As the door shut and the darkness enveloped them, all you could hear was screaming!! Torch lights were quickly switched on and you could hear shrieks of laughter! We scurried back to camp and played hide and seek in the dark. Supper time was delicious and bedtime even better! The end to another amazing day! The last day at our SOS camp was another one to look forward to! After breakfast we had a surprise activity 8 1 0 2 y a D g n i Trad waiting for us and although we saved our last clean clothes to wear on the bus, they didn’t survive the dirt! Tug of War and it was great! While we were pulling and tugging it started raining. Our hair and clothes got saturated. Once the game was over and won, we tried to find something to wear that had survived the last few days. The trip coming back to school was quiet as everyone was exhausted. You heard the odd riddle and giggle but a lot of snoring! We couldn’t wait to be collected, go home, shower and climb into our own comfy beds. Another WGJS camp to remember! Tikara Conradie and Emma Belcher Trading day was an eventful and exciting day for the whole of Grade 7. As soon as the teachers announced Trading Day, there was non-stop chatter and idea sharing – this continued throughout the process of preparing for and making our products. To be honest, we were all a little nervous as we were challenged to use mainly recyclable materials. We worked long and hard, using every opportunity we had to work on our products and stalls. The day finally came. As the school bell rang, every Grade 7 learner spent time setting up their stalls. Everybody set up their tables in their own unique way to attract customers. The hall looked amazing, filled with colour and innovative ideas and the atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm and expectation. From the moment the doors opened and the first group of customers arrived, there was a buzz of excitement. Trading Day was a huge success and a wonderful opportunity as we learnt a lot about business and ourselves. Even more exciting was that we got to keep our profit! Everyone really enjoyed themselves and had a blast. Jehaan Gydien, Qaniah Arnold and India Holloway 57
