SORGHUM RECIPES
GINGERBREAD
1C. Sugar
1C. Sorghum
1C. Oil
2 Eggs
(Cream These Ingredients Well)
2tsp. Soda Dissolved In 2Tbls. Water
2C. Flour
1tsp. Cinnamon
1/2tsp. Ginger
1tsp. Allspice
1/2tsp. Cloves
Mix together. Then add 1c. boiling water. Batter will be
thin but yummy when done. Bake at 350 degrees about 30
minutes.
Topping: Mix 1C. powdered sugar with juice of 1 lemon.
Pour over gingerbread while hot.
SOFT SORGHUM DROPS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream together 3/4c. butter
and 1 1/2c. brown sugar. Add 3 beaten eggs, 1tsp. vanilla,
2Tbsp. sorghum mixed with 1tsp. soda. Mix well and add 3c.
sifted flour an d1c. raisins.
Mix well until thoroughly blended. Drop by tsp. on to a
greased baking sheet. Bake until slightly brown.
BROWN BREAD
1 3/4C. Sifted Flour
3/4tsp. Salt
1 Well Beaten Egg
3Tbsp. Melted Shortening
1/4C. Sorghum Molasses
1 1/4tsp. Soda
1/4C. Sugar
1C. Buttermilk or Sour Milk
1/2C. Raisins
Stir together dry ingredients. Blend egg, milk, shortening
and sorghum. Add dry ingredients, a little at a time, stirring
well after each addition. Stir in raisins. Bake in greased
and floured tube pan at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes.

MOLASSES CANDIED POPCORN
Place 6 cups freshly popped popcorn in a large bowl. (Be sure
all the unpopped grains are removed).
Molasses syrup: Melt 1tbsp. butter; add 1/2c. sorghum and
1/4c. sugar. Stir these ingredients until sugar dissolves and mixture
boils. Cover and cook about 3 minutes until steam has washed
down sides of the pan. Uncover and cook without stirring to 290
degrees (hard crack stage). Remove from heat and pour over
popped corn. Stir gently with wooden spoon until well coated.
When cool enough to handle, form into balls with lightly buttered
fingers.
