"Your everyday operations generate data about the supply chain, about your business, about your customers, and what is happening in their supply chain. There's value in that." The challenge, he noted, is teasing that value out and educating your customers and using that to provide them with those insights to enable effective decision-making.
Meeks described the digital supply chain as a set of processes that use advanced technologies that provide better insights into each stakeholder's functions along the chain, enabling each participant to make better decisions. Generating better insights through technology to inform better decision-making was a central theme of his presentation.
He noted that while most participants will have heard of technologies such as RFID, robotics, the Internet, and
