“ That is what you get in an independent bookstore . We give personalized service ; if somebody wants a recommendation , we give them one ,” Craddock said .
The store offers a frequent buyer program , which has helped keep customers coming back and steering clear of Amazon . The store has also become a repeat stop for travelers to the area .
“ When we first opened , Amazon was very popular , and we would get people who would figure out what book they wanted to order and would stand right in front of us and order it from Amazon ,” Craddock said . “ As time has gone , we don ’ t really compete with Amazon anymore .
