Conley wanted to rename the restaurant after seeing how Groseclose taught himself to brew by keeping a bōc-hord — an old English term for a book collection — about brewing , so it became the Bōc- Hord Brewery and Bakehouse .
“ We came up with that idea because it has been inspired by him ( Groseclose ) and his journey teaching and educating himself . He ’ s got a bōc-hord of books he ’ s used to hone his craft ,” Conley said .
The brewery and restaurant opened on Sept . 12 , 2024 , and the WV Hive provided support with its business plan and technical assistance before it opened its doors .
The Bōc-Hord Brewery and Bakehouse is open Thursday to Monday from 11 a . m . to 10 p . m . each day . It is closed Tuesday and Wednesday . ❖
