Nick Tankersley opened Lost Appalachia in Fayetteville in August 2021 .
“ We are a lifestyle brand based in Fayetteville on the edge of the New River Gorge ,” he explains . “ All of it is designed in house .”
The store showcases apparel , art and goods all with Tankersley ’ s unique Appalachia-inspired designs . His designs include T-shirts and hoodies featuring the slogans “ Wild and Wonderful ” and “ Get lost in the Mountains ” surrounded by art of rivers and mountains . There are keychains in the shape of West Virginia , and water bottles with the “ Lost Appalachia ” design . Designs featuring opossums , wolves , morels , coyotes and crawdads are just some of Tankersley ’ s art that adorn the hoodies , belts , art prints and stickers for sale .
Tankersley will be rolling out a new line of products in November in time for the holiday gift season . In addition to products that feature his designs he also sells art prints made by about a dozen other Appalachian based artists .
“ We try to give back to arts products and the community .”
“ We try to source products within Appalachia when we can . So we have some Fiestaware and leather products that are designed in house but produced in Virginia and Ohio .” ❖
