biology at Marshall University before graduating with his medical degree from Marshall in 1991 . He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine / Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati , Ohio .
In 1998 , the duo established Drs . Henry , Kinder & Associates , PLLC , a private internal medicine practice based in Charleston , WV . They both serve on the state ’ s occupational pneumoconiosis board and as co-medical directors for Charleston Area Medical Center ’ s employee health . Both are members of Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and are active in their county and state medical societies . Beyond medicine , Henry and Kinder each have two sons who grew up camping , fishing and playing sports together as close friends .
The Jack L . Kinder Jr ., M . D ., and Bradley D . Henry , M . D ., Scholarship is designated for an entering medical student from Boone County , WV , with second preference to a student from Cabell County , WV . This scholarship is renewable for up to three years .
“ As a Huntington native , Marshall has always been a part of my life ,” Henry says . “ My wife and two sons also have degrees from Marshall . I wanted to be part of the scholarship program and continue the mission of providing excellent medical care to the citizens of West Virginia . I hope this scholarship will give students the opportunity to stay and work in the state they love , just as I did .”
Highmark West Virginia Charitable Fund for Health Donates $ 100,000
Highmark West Virginia officials recently announced every West Virginiabased United Way agency will receive grant funding totaling $ 100,000 from the Highmark West Virginia Charitable Fund for Health . The grants , ranging from $ 2,777 to $ 25,000 , will support programs dedicated to the health and well-being of West Virginia residents .
“ Highmark continues to have a longstanding partnership with United Way through corporate contributions , enterprise-wide campaigns , employee pledges and volunteerism ,” says Jim Fawcett , president of Highmark West Virginia .
“ This funding helps enable agencies to ensure our communities throughout the state are set up for success through the valuable programs that are so beneficial to all West Virginia residents .”
The United Way agencies that serve the areas in which the majority of Highmark West Virginia members live and work will receive $ 25,000 each . The remaining nine agencies throughout West Virginia will each receive $ 2,777 , for a total of $ 100,000 .
