Speed Networking Tips & Tricks While speed networking was a bit out of the norm for a West Virginia Executive event, the staff learned some valuable lessons for planning and executing this fast, fun and effective networking method. • Find a fun but firm way to let participants know when it is time to move to the next round. This should be something loud enough to be heard by the entire room like a bell or phone alarm. • When deciding on the appropriate length of time for each round, first determine the nature of the conversations at hand. Experts suggest anywhere between two and five minutes. • Be sure to allow enough space in between each set of participants so they do not have to talk over one another and can move around easily when it’s their turn to change seats. • If multiple people from the same company are attending the event, make sure they all sit on the same side of the table so they can maximize their time with new contacts.
