the first West Virginia couple to receive the honor and only the third couple nationally to be recognized, joining Bob and Elizabeth Dole as well as Morrill and Karen Worcester.
The Four Chaplains Gold Medallion Award is the highest honor presented by the Four Chaplains Memorial Foundation, recognizing individuals whose national or international leadership reflects self-sacrifice, unconditional service and interfaith unity.

Andy Richardson Named Executive Director of the West Virginia Bar Foundation
The West Virginia Bar Foundation announced Andy Richardson as its executive director.
Richardson, a West Virginia native, brings more than 44 years of legal experience, including a distinguished career serving in-house with insurance administrator McDonough Caperton, Acordia and their successors. He began his career as an assistant prosecuting attorney and later served in the cabinet of Governor Gaston Caperton, where he played a key role in overseeing major reforms to West Virginia’ s workers’ compensation system— an effort that contributed to a clean audit opinion and an improved bond rating for the state.
Richardson has served on both the South Charleston and Charleston city councils, as vice chair of the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center and chair of the Charleston Sternwheel Regatta. He has also remained actively involved in supporting academic and athletic initiatives at West Virginia University, his undergraduate and law school alma mater.
Today, Richardson’ s work focuses on estate planning, Medicare-related insurance products, consulting and publishing, recently adding author to
