The West Virginia Hospital Association ( WVHA ) stands as a beacon of collaboration and unity within the state ’ s rapidly changing health care landscape , embodying the essence of effective teamwork in achieving its mission .
Established in 1925 , the WVHA has been at the forefront of representing hospitals across West Virginia . Its founding principle was simple yet profound : to serve as the collective voice of the state ’ s hospital community . Over the years , this collective effort has evolved into a united goal : to build a strong and healthy West Virginia . At the heart of the WVHA ’ s mission lies the vision that prioritizes the well-being of every West Virginian .
Central to the success of the WVHA is its emphasis on collaboration . Recognizing that no single entity can address the complex challenges facing West Virginia ’ s health care system alone , the association brings together hospitals and associate member organizations in a spirit of partnership and cooperation .
|
The WVHA ’ s commitment to collaboration extends beyond hospitals to encompass the broader health care ecosystem . By forging strategic partnerships with government agencies , educational institutions and community organizations , the association drives positive change on a statewide scale . These collaborative efforts pave the way for initiatives aimed at improving health care access , affordability and quality for all West Virginians .
Leading this charge is Jim Kaufman , president and CEO of the WVHA . With over 25 years of health policy experience , Kaufman has been a tireless advocate for improving access to care . His career includes roles as vice president of public policy for the Children ’ s Hospital Association , director of government affairs for the Johns Hopkins Institutions and various roles in Maryland state government . In addition to his leadership at WVHA , Kaufman serves on several boards and as an instructor in various health programs , showcasing his commitment to health education and policy .
Kaufman is supported by a senior leadership team with years of experience in financial policy , legislative advocacy and quality and data .
“ Without exception , the senior team assembled here is top-notch and one of the best teams I have been privileged to be a part of ,” he says . “ I ’ m proud that our team works together toward a common objective to serve and improve access to care with our hospitals . Health care is a highly regulated industry , and the synergy created by our diverse perspectives and skill sets allows us to tackle complex problems from multiple angles , leading to better decision-making and more comprehensive solutions .” •
