Tapping Into Water Resources
BEING THE ENVIRONMENTAL editor allows me to find the most knowledgeable people in their fields to share their wisdom with the readers of the West Virginia Executive magazine . Dr . Paul Ziemkievicz and I are working together on several projects . We currently have proposals under review that will address reforestation incentives for previously reclaimed mountaintop mines . We are also working on a comprehensive research project for altered landscapes in Appalachia .
While we hope that all of our projects and proposals dealing with natural resources extraction will be successful , we recognize that water is the single most important resource that we have in West Virginia . All other resources are dependent on it in some way . Economic development , energy production and even tourism require water . Water will continue to grow in its significance and by the year 2015 , it may likely be a coveted commodity .
