Power of Work
In 2021 , Goodwill Industries of Kanawha Valley ( Goodwill KV ) and The Blennerhassett Hotel and Spa embarked on a partnership to provide individuals with barriers to employment a second chance . Now , almost three years later , Goodwill and The Blennerhassett have been able to successfully employ 10 individuals at the hotel . Bobbie Meyer , a Parkersburg resident , is one of those individuals .
Despite a troubled past marred by abuse , Meyer found the courage to seek a fresh start after focusing on her sobriety . Hesitant but determined , she approached Goodwill KV — a decision that proved to be life-changing . Meyer embarked
on a journey of empowerment , setting and achieving small , significant goals that gradually built her confidence . After completing preparatory coursework , she was hired by The Blennerhassett , where she spreads joy in the field of hospitality .
“ I had to get out of the relationship I was in , and I knew a job would get me there ,” says Meyer .
Today , Meyer has been employed for more than one year and has already been promoted to a new position .

Craftsmanship Without Compromise
Located in Ronceverte , WV , Architectural Wood LLC is a pioneer in the millwork industry with a dedication to craftsmanship and attention to detail . Owners Carol Oosterbeek and Patrick Driscoll started the company in 2011 after they each made the Mountain State their home .
Originally from South Africa , Oosterbeek began her career as a draftsperson and expanded her knowledge to project management before becoming CEO . Driscoll came to West Virginia to pursue his love of outdoor activities and became proficient in contract administration , project management and operational management , to help him serve as CFO .
Architectural Wood LLC works with clients to design and build wood , stone , specialty metals and glass projects . Their services include full-time estimating , engineering , project management , fabrication and installation of premiumgrade millwork , casework and countertops for commercial projects .
Architectural Wood LLC works on a variety of projects spanning from private residences to concert halls . Recently they outfitted the Under Armour corporate headquarters in Port Covington , MD , with wooden fixtures like panels , banquette seating and bathroom vanities .
