2021 West Virginia Health Care Hall of Fame Induction

In 2020 , West Virginia Executive ( WVE ) launched its fourth awards program , the West Virginia Health Care Hall of Fame , to recognize those who go above and beyond the call of duty in health care and its supporting industries .
As the COVID-19 pandemic closed schools and businesses worldwide , certain professions were deemed either essential or non-essential as most quarantined in their homes . Our health care workers , on the other hand , stepped onto the frontlines of the battle as our most essential tool against the virus . The events of the past year have been a true testament to health care workers and the resilience they possess .
With the pandemic woes of the past year in mind , the WVE staff put out a call for nominations for surgeons , doctors , nurses , hospital administrators , educators , researchers , scientists , innovators and entrepreneurs who have been in their current position and lived in West Virginia for at least two years and have made a significant contribution to the field of health care , demonstrating their unmistakable passion for making the Mountain State a better , healthier and happier place to live .
From the nominations , 10 inductees were chosen . The recipients were honored at a reception on June 24 , 2021 , at the Embassy Suites by Hilton in Charleston , WV , where peers , family , friends and coworkers gathered to show their appreciation , admiration and respect . The reception had an air of homecoming as friends and acquaintances reunited and reconnected after a year of isolation and mask-wearing .
While the inductees are diverse in specialty , background and practice , they all share a fierce love for West Virginia and a deep desire to improve the quality of life of her people . The 2021 Health Care Hall of Fame inductees are : Craig Boisvert , D . O ., vice president of academic affairs and dean of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine ; Timothy Deer , M .
