Human Resources to implement a collegiate recovery pro-
gram on campus.
Collegiate recovery programs are supportive environments
within the campus culture that reinforce the decision to engage
in a lifestyle of recovery from substance use. Housed within
the Office of Counseling and Accessibility Services, this pro-
gram will offer comprehensive support services for recover-
ing students.
“Participants will have the opportunity to connect with other
recovering students, attend recovery support meetings, engage
in community services, utilize the recovery lounge, connect to
resources for academic and wellness support and participate
in alcohol- and drug-free social events and activities,” says
Kellie Toledo, director of counseling and accessibility services.
Data collected from collegiate recovery programs nationwide
shows that students in the programs have nearly a 90 percent
graduation rate. Furthermore, the relapse rate each semester
is low, at approximately 4 percent to 8 percent. The new pro-
gram will be in place for the start of the fall 2018 semester.
