Alpha Technologies Establishes Scholarship for Students Studying Cybersecurity
The Marshall University Foundation announced the establishment of the Alpha-Tech Scholarship . This scholarship is generously endowed for $ 100,000 by Alpha Technologies and will serve students studying cybersecurity .
In August of 2023 , Marshall received $ 45 million from the state of West Virginia to establish a state-of-the-art Institute for Cyber Security , which will position the university at the forefront of cyber defense and research .
“ The Alpha-Tech Scholarship is more than a donation ; it ’ s an investment in the next generation of cybersecurity experts . We look forward to seeing the impact these students will make , both at Marshall University and in the broader field of cybersecurity ,” says Doug Tate , CEO and owner of Alpha Technologies .

Generation West Virginia Underscores Focus on Workforce Development
Generation West Virginia ( GWV ) is proud to announce the redefinition of its mission statement , representing a significant milestone in the organization ’ s commitment to the professional growth and success of young adults in West Virginia . The newly defined mission statement reads as follows : “ Generation West Virginia equips young West Virginians with key skills and career opportunities , ensuring their ability to thrive in the Mountain State .”
The decision was fueled by the idea that the mission needed to catch up to GWV ’ s ongoing work . The organization ’ s leadership and board identified the necessity for an updated mission that was direct , highlighting the organization ’ s dedication to workforce development as it pertains to young adults .
