The most integrated natural gas and natural gas liquids ( NGL ) business in the U . S ., Antero is one of the largest suppliers to the U . S . liquified natural gas ( LNG ) market , the nation ’ s second largest NGL producer and fifth largest natural gas producer . In 2020 , Antero supplied the equivalent of 90 LNG cargoes and 32 liquid petroleum gas ( LPG ) cargoes that were ultimately delivered into international markets . LPG , typically 75 % propane and 25 % butane , is safer and cleaner than coal or biomass . Therefore , it has become the fuel of choice for cooking and heating in parts of the developing world .
“ I feel extremely proud to know our product is sustainably sourced locally , providing great jobs for hard working folks in West Virginia and Ohio and has the added benefit of helping those abroad who don ’ t have access to clean , sustainable energy ,” says Jen Hornemann , vice president of production at Antero Resources .
Combined achievements of both companies include spending $ 8 million since 2019 to reduce methane emissions from production sites by 69 %, working as a team to identify opportunities to avoid fugitive emissions , installing air compressors to power pneumatic devices and using artificial lifts to unload wells .
Teams also leverage local employees to build better communities where we work and live , and the Antero Foundation was recently created to support nonprofit organizations that enable Antero to be a resource to the most vulnerable in our communities .
“ Antero ’ s Production team works in the rain , snow , high winds and sweltering humidity to ensure gas keeps flowing 24 hours a day , seven days a week , 365 days a year to meet the modern world ’ s energy needs ,” says Hornemann .
On the midstream side , Antero set a goal to achieve 100 % reduction in pipeline maintenance emissions by 2025 and net zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2050 . This will be possible through innovative engineering , operational solutions that reduce our carbon footprint and employees dedicated to emission reduction and ESG — environmental , social and governance — initiatives .
Because Antero Resources is fully integrated into Antero Midstream ’ s expansive water handling infrastructure network , we were able to eliminate more than 32 million miles of truck traffic from highways in 2020 alone , reinforcing our company ’ s commitment to developing energy in the most innovative and responsible ways possible .
