In 2000 , the McDonalds were the first to sign the licensing agreement to allow the Hatfield McCoy Trail System to be built , which was truly a leap of faith due to the liability concerns any company would have for this type of activity . Many landowners followed their lead , and today the Hatfield McCoy Trail System is by far the largest tourist attraction in the state . Its growth continues at an unbelievable pace , and recently the McDonalds announced their intention to build the largest lodging facility thus far along the system . The new resort will feature 35 cabins , a store , restaurant , zip line and tubing down the Guyandotte River . This new resort will bring many new jobs to the area .
The board of directors of the McDonald Land Company would like to congratulate its president , Glenn T . Yost , for being chosen as a West Virginia Executive magazine Sharp Shooter for the Class of 2021 and to thank him for his 29 outstanding years of service with the company .
