The CCUSA Innovation Challenge aimed to inspire Catholic Charities agencies to propose a fresh solution toward reducing poverty . CCWVa proposed an innovative hospital transition program in partnership with Wheeling Hospital . The two organizations will work together to develop a supportive transition for high-risk patients as they are discharged from the hospital .
A CCWVa case manager will coordinate with the hospital team to work with patients prior to discharge and provide individualized supportive services , following up with the patient to ensure they understand discharge instructions and are connected to community resources . Additionally , space will be made available within the hospital for a food pharmacy — a food pantry for those with fixed or low incomes to visit before they are discharged .
Davis & Elkins College Hosts Unique Commencement Ceremonies
While most graduation ceremonies were virtual this year , Davis & Elkins College ( D & E ) made good on its promise to give the class of 2020 an in-person commencement . The ceremony for D & E graduates took place in the fall instead of spring , it wasn ’ t on campus , and the whole class didn ’ t share one single stage .
What did occur was a week-long , 11-stop tour during which college administrators took to the road and brought the ceremonies to their graduates . After detailed discussions with the Randolph-Elkins Health Department , appropriate protocols were put in place , and the tour took form with locations mapped out according to regions where the greatest number of graduates resided .
