Maple Plain: the best in small town life

Despite being located just 20 miles west of Minneapolis down Highway 12, Maple Plain strives to keep the delightful, small-town feel alive and well. The downtown of this quaint little city is constantly evolving and looks to draw in passersby on Highway 12 and residents alike.
The city is home to more than 1,600 residents and is home to a variety of commercial and industrial communities. The city has been noted for its neighborly values, active and caring citizens, and much more.
The city keeps close ties with the nearby city of Independence and shares some city-level services with the neighboring city. The two cities often join forces to create and put on idyllic community festivals and activities all throughout the year.
The city has its own fire department, which is commanded by Chief Rick Denneson. Gary Kroells directs West

The Maple Plain City Council meets at 7 p. m. on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at city hall.
Elections for city council seats are held every two years.
