PAUL CROWELL
A FAMILIAR FACE IN THE INDUSTRY
Paul Crowell has been a mechanic working in the automotive industry since he was 16 years old . He did veer from that in the late ’ 80s when he got into the marine diesel field , but otherwise his career has been in automotive . It ’ s what he ’ s passionate about and what he ’ s done all his life .
Before he founded Paul ’ s Mobile Mechanics , Paul worked for another marine diesel mechanic shop on Cape Sable Island servicing marine diesel engines at wharfs on the island and in surrounding communities . He worked for this shop from 1988 until 1994 , at which time the itch to branch out became too strong and he left to start his own company . Prior to branching out , Paul had done a lot of moonlighting , working as an automotive technician by day and on marine vessels at night , so he already had experience as an independent mechanic . What pushed him to go out on his own was that he saw the need to get out there and serve his community in his own way with a mobile mechanic service that would meet and serve customers ’ needs when and where they needed him . He knew he was the man for the job , and he was ready to take the next step .
In March of 1994 , Paul ’ s Mobile Mechanics became an official business . Through Paul ’ s Mobile Mechanics , Paul and his team were able to provide on-site mechanic services for marine vessels . In addition to providing mechanic services , Paul ’ s Mobile Mechanics became a certified dealer for John Deere marine engines , Volvo Penta marine engines , and Mitsubishi marine engines . They also began to deal in marine transmissions for ZF Transmission and Twin Disc .

His son , Corey , took over management of the company around 2010 . Paul continued to work full time as he always did , turning wrenches and getting the fishers up and running , until the summer of 2020 , when he decided to go into semi-retirement . At 72 years old , he still
