wellpreneur spotlight Each month we’ll be shining the spotlight on one of our readers to inspire others and get a mini microscope into other wellness businesses. This month we sat down with Nikki Spagnolo. A beautifully down to earth soul living in Perth, Australia that has set herself the goal of empowering women to value and prioritise their health. She encourages women to create lifestyle changes to help shape their children’s health and wellbeing. Nikki, can you tell us a little about what you do? I challenge women to evaluate their current belief systems. I assist them with accountability through the development of client driven goals designed to take them to where they desire to be. I encourage them to see the importance of health within the family. All of this outlines the true meaning of The Healthy Platform. How did you get into what you do? How did you get started? In 2010, I weighed 90kg after the birth of my third child.  I was miserable, uncomfortable, withdrawn and would self sabotage any attempts to improve my health and wellbeing. I eventually realised that there was no quick fix or magic pill and that determination and hard work were inevitable. I began to prioritise myself (without guilt), I identified my nutritional footprint, started exercising for enjoyment and was finally able to recognise the importance of a positive mindset. I began studying Nutrition and Health Coaching and found that my previous qualifications of Personal Training and Early Education began to influence my niche. Was there one key person who inspired you the most to be a wellpreneur? Not only one person no, but lots of people. While delivering personal training sessions to clients, conversations were often geared towards life balance, stress management, weight loss, relationships, children and general nutrition. The women I worked with would often leave a personal training session feeling empowered to make positive lifestyle changes. I came to realize that I wanted to be able to deliver a holistic service to the clients I worked with. So, ultimately, I wanted to be able to help women make similar positive changes that I had made in my own life. Then in 2015, my eldest daughter became chronically ill. Medical advice included pain relief medication followed by invasive investigative surgery. My husband and I decided to consult a Naturopath who suggested dietary adjustments and supplementation. Within three months of us making these changes her symptoms dissipated. This became the driving force for me to further educate myself. 13 WM - Wellpreneurial Magazine | July 2017 | FREE Introductory Issue
