THE MODERN CITY: LA CONFLUENCE
At the south tip of the Presqu’île peninsula, the neighborhood of La Confluence has long been devoted to
industry and to transport. After years of redevelopment projects, the city has created an exceptional space
and unique landscape. The Confluence Shopping Center and the Musée des Confluences (museum) are
considerable assets to this budding neighborhood, a rare urban redevelopment project in Europe which
represents a strong challenge for Lyon and a significant opportunity for its residents.
In keeping with the modern dynamics of the area, La Confluence launched its own mobile application.
This application allows users to geolocate themselves, to identify redevelopment areas, and to choose
among 8 walking itineraries. It also allows them to discover the landscape and history of the district, and
provides anecdotes and practical information. Users can also discover La Confluence through a virtual 3-
D tour of the neighborhood.
