Cumberland County is home
to multiple parks both in and
around Crossville that offer fun
and activities for all ages. Parks
in Cumberland County offer
hiking, fishing, sports, educational
opportunities and more.
Cumberland Mountain
State Park
Located just south of Crossville
on Hwy. 127, Cumberland Mountain
State Park’s 1,720 acres are
home to Byrd Lake, hiking trails,
cabins, kayaking, fishing, camping,
basketball courts, golf, a restaurant,
wildlife viewing opportunities and an
Olympic-size pool that will reopen in
2021. Park rangers are also on site,
offering educational opportunities,
guided hikes and more.
Built in 1938, the park was
originally part of the Cumberland
Homesteads Project and has
entertained residents of Cumberland
County and visitors alike for nearly
a century.
Cumberland Mountain State
Park’s most iconic structure is
without a doubt the dam and bridge
that holds Byrd Lake. The dam is
located near the park office and
Homestead Harvest Restaurant.
The park is a popular draw for
nature lovers with its 15 miles of
trials, both paved and natural.
A mountain bike trail opened
recently, adding another avenue of
adventuring for bikers.
Along the trails and at the lake,
various wildflowers and wildlife from
across the Cumberland Plateau can
be found.
The park is also home to the Bear
Trace at Cumberland Mountain, an
award-winning 18-hole golf course
designed by Jack Nicklaus. Bear
Trace was named a top course in
Tennessee in 2001.
Cumberland Mountain State
Park’s office is located at 24 Office
Dr. and is open from 7 a.m. until 10
p.m. daily. Call 931-484-6138 for
more information.
Cumberland Trail
State Park
Forty-five miles of the
Cumberland Trial run through
Cumberland County, including
trailheads at Daddy’s Creek,
Ozone Falls, Black Mountain,
Brady Mountain and the Head of
Sequatchie.
More trails are currently planned
