Building a Bright Future Together Capital Campaign
In fiscal year 2024, the Weinstein JCC launched its“ Building a Bright Future Together” Capital Campaign, a bold initiative to transform our facilities, expand programming, and reaffirm our commitment to the Richmond community. This effort ensures the JCC remains a vibrant hub for Jewish life and an inclusive space for all.
“ Our goal is more than physical updates— it’ s about creating a true gathering place where individuals and families can connect and grow,” said CEO Orly Lewis. For decades, the Weinstein JCC has been a cornerstone for cultural, educational, and wellness experiences. Welcoming over 2,000 people daily, we serve individuals of all backgrounds and abilities, rooted in Jewish values and driven by a spirit of inclusivity— no one is turned away due to financial constraints.
Though steeped in tradition, the Weinstein JCC embraces innovation to stay responsive to the community’ s evolving needs.“ This campaign isn’ t just about bricks and mortar,” said Stuart Simon, President of the Board.“ It’ s about building relationships and opportunities across generations.”
A VISION YEARS IN THE MAKING In 2018, the vision for a capital campaign first emerged, with the goal of ensuring the sustainability and growth of the Weinstein JCC for generations to come. In 2022, a dedicated campaign committee formed to lead this transformative chapter. Despite external advice to wait, our lay leaders, staff, and CEO pressed forward, confident in the strength of our community.
Support came swiftly. Early in the campaign’ s quiet phase, major donors and board members stepped up. Carole and Marcus Weinstein and the Jecklin Family pledged generous matching funds at key intervals, providing crucial momentum.
