Success stress – snatching defeat from the jaws of victory One of the reasons people don’ t finish projects is that they would then have to worry about the stresses and demands that go with being successful. While you might envy a rock star, or a movie star, do you really want everything that goes with fame and fortune? How would you feel about the loss of privacy, or the fact that you could not go shopping or out to lunch without a fuss being made? These are the success stresses that go with fame and fortune. I believe that most people are not as successful at life as they want to be because deep down they do not want to have the success stress that goes with this. On the other hand, the people who are very successful, deep down, at an unconscious level, want to be successful and are prepared to accept the associated stress. Problems are normal in life. If too long passes without a problem then check your pulse as you are probably dead. People often complain about how one problem in their life seems only to be replaced by another. To enjoy life we have to learn to do so in amongst the problems. Then the goal is to have better problems at a lower frequency. Indeed, one way I define personal growth is that it is a process of replacing problems with bigger and better problems. For example, it is much better to have the problems of being slim and attractive and fighting off advances from men, than the problem of feeling lethargic and frumpy – or is it??
